Book to Film Club (Rebecca)
Join us for a free screening of Rebecca (1940) in the Kimball Junction Branch auditorium. The film is based on the novel Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. After the screening, we will have an optional discussion about the novel and the film. The e-book and audiobook are always available on Libby, and the book is also available to check out.
Synopsis: Rebecca is a 1938 Gothic novel written by English author Daphne du Maurier. The novel depicts an unnamed young woman who impetuously marries a wealthy widower, before discovering that both he and his household are haunted by the memory of his late first wife, Rebecca.
Alfred Hitchcock's first American film (and his only Best Picture winner), Rebecca is a masterpiece of haunting atmosphere, Gothic thrills, and gripping suspense.
